Camping Riviera d’Azur or Au Paradis des Campeurs: which campsite to choose on the French Riviera?

Two campsites on the French Riviera, two different holidays. Camping Riviera d’Azur, in Saint-Aygulf (Fréjus), is a large, lively 5-star family resort set back from the coast: a vast water park, kids’ clubs, a beach shuttle. Au Paradis des Campeurs, in Les Issambres, is a human-scale 4-star campsite: quiet, green, open all year, right by the sea, a 2-minute walk from La Gaillarde beach. The right choice depends on the kind of holiday you’re after.

Both campsites are on the French Riviera, about ten minutes’ drive apart (around 6 km): Au Paradis des Campeurs in Les Issambres, right by the sea; Camping Riviera d’Azur in Saint-Aygulf, towards Fréjus, set back from the coast by the Villepey lagoons. The first puts your feet in the Mediterranean, the second at the heart of a large water park.

How to choose between them?

Looking for calm or a big, lively water park?

For a large water park, kids’ clubs and evening shows, choose Camping Riviera d’Azur. To sleep in peace, surrounded by greenery and right by the water, with no night-time entertainment, choose Au Paradis des Campeurs.

Do you want the beach on foot?

Au Paradis des Campeurs is right by the sea: La Gaillarde beach is a 2-minute walk away. Camping Riviera d’Azur is set back from the coast, about 4-5 km from the beach, reached by car, by bike or with the campsite’s free shuttle.

Travelling with a dog?

Au Paradis des Campeurs lives up to its nickname, the “dogs’ paradise”: forest right next door and a dog-friendly beach 100 m away. Camping Riviera d’Azur also welcomes dogs (except categories 1 and 2), but with no dog beach within walking distance — the beaches that admit them are about ten minutes away by car.

Travelling off-season?

Au Paradis des Campeurs is open all year; Camping Riviera d’Azur opens from early April to early November. For a winter stay or outside the school holidays, choose Au Paradis des Campeurs.
