Camping La Plage d’Argens or Au Paradis des Campeurs: which campsite to choose on the French Riviera?
Two campsites on the French Riviera, two different holidays. Camping La Plage d’Argens, in Saint-Aygulf (Fréjus), is a lively 4-star Homair holiday club for families, beside the river Argens: a heated water park, kids’ clubs, evening shows and the beach around 900 m away. Au Paradis des Campeurs, in Les Issambres, is a human-scale 4-star campsite: calm, leafy, open all year, right by the sea, a 2-minute walk from La Gaillarde beach. The right choice depends on the kind of holiday you’re after.

Where are the two campsites located?
Both campsites are on the French Riviera, about ten minutes’ drive apart (around 6 km): Au Paradis des Campeurs in Les Issambres, right by the sea; Camping La Plage d’Argens in Saint-Aygulf, towards Fréjus, beside the river Argens near the Villepey lagoons. The first puts your feet in the Mediterranean; the second at the heart of a large water park, the beach about 900 m away along a nature path.
How to choose between them?
Looking for calm or a lively holiday club?
For a water park, kids’ clubs and evening shows (right up to the Homair Summer Festival), choose La Plage d’Argens. To sleep in peace, surrounded by greenery and right by the sea, with no night-time entertainment, choose Au Paradis des Campeurs.
Want to walk to the beach?
Au Paradis des Campeurs is right by the sea: La Gaillarde beach is a 2-minute walk away (around 50 m), with clear, calm water for a peaceful swim. At La Plage d’Argens, the sea is about 900 m away: you reach a long, wild sandy beach along a pleasant path beside the Villepey lagoons (allow 12 to 15 minutes on foot).
Travelling with a dog?
Au Paradis des Campeurs lives up to its nickname, the “dogs’ paradise”: forest right next door and a dog-friendly beach 100 m away. La Plage d’Argens also welcomes dogs (one per accommodation, except categories 1 and 2, with a surcharge, plus a dog shower on site), but with no dog beach within walking distance.
Travelling off-season?
Au Paradis des Campeurs is open all year; La Plage d’Argens opens from late March to mid-October. For a winter stay or outside the school holidays, choose Au Paradis des Campeurs.
